After 12 events with the Malaysian Amateur Chess Championship held in Perlis as the latest edition, the newly crowned Malaysian Open Champion FM Kavin Mohan is now the leader of the GP qualifiers to the final. He is closely followed by Muhammad Syakir Syazmeer Azhar who is eight(8) points behind with Aqilah Husna in 3rd position and youngster Chow Yi Chen in 4th. With six(6) more series set to happen between now until December, the leader board and qualifiers for the GP can change drastically as we approach the Grand Final.

The 7 new events that were added to the GP tally are the 2nd Chess Hub U1800 tournament, 3rd Chess Hub Double weekend event, National Open Team Chess Championship - PMX Trophy, 3rd Chess Hub U1800 event,  4th Chess Hub Double Weekend tournament, and the newly added Malaysian Amateur Chess Championship 2025. For the remaining six(6) series, 4 events will be organized by Chess Hub Sdn Bhd with MCF to host the balance two(2) series. There are at least 180 points up for grabs for each of the U1800 series and 250 points for the U2400 events.

The mouth watering first prize fund of RM10,000 is the highest ever offered to a local player in a local event. And the inaugural Grand Prix is an excellent opportunity for players to shine and show their capabilities and stamina to make it to the top and grab the glory.
