GRAND PRIX STANDING
After 5 events - 4 by MCF and 1 by Chess Hub, the Grand Prix list of qualifiers is beginning to take shape. MCF is also able to review and monitor the progress of many local chess players to take up more interest in Standard events instead of the more popular Rapid events currently being offered by many organizers around the country.
For the 5 events that have kicked of the Grand Prix circuits - MCF U2400, MCC Open, MCC Women, MCC Challenger and Chess Hub Double weekend, a total of 115 have earned Grand Prix points with Aqilah Husna Ainul Fikri leading the pack with 78 points accumulated. Next in line is Chow Yi Chen with 55 points after his successful win at the Double Weekend event, and Kavin Mohan and Puteri Munajjah - our recently crowned National Champions at 3rd and 4th spots respectively.
Aqilah Husna has played in 3 events - halfway to meet the qualification status while many players have only begun with their initial event. As mentioned, players need to play in at least 6 events out of the 17 events offered before they can qualify for the final championship knockout stage.
The total prize fund offered is a whopping RM30,000 with the most ever first prize find of RM10,000 offered to a local player in a local event. And the Grand Prix final stage and all the prizes offered are only meant for Malaysians so, an excellent opportunity for players to shine and show their capabilities and stamina
